Interscope Records

During the summer of 2021, I had the incredible opportunity to intern at Interscope Records under Universal Music Group as the Urban Promo Intern. I had the privilege of creating promotional blasts for top artists like J. Cole, Moneybagg Yo, Cynthia Erivo, LPB Poody, and EST Gee, among others. One of the highlights of my internship was sitting in on DJ calls with various Interscope artists and submitting nominations for the 2021 BET Hip Hop Awards—a truly surreal moment.

Two of my major projects included developing a comprehensive Radio Personality Influencer List, which compiled essential contact information for DJs and radio personalities across different regions, and completing my capstone project on rising star Coi Leray.

This internship stands as one of my greatest accomplishments, not just because of the tasks I completed but because of the way everything aligned perfectly. I hadn’t anticipated a career in radio, but God had other plans, and I found myself closely connected with the President and Vice President of Urban Radio Promotions—an incredible opportunity for an intern. I soaked up knowledge daily, learning the behind-the-scenes workings of radio and tracking artist chart rankings on Mediabase.

My team was unstoppable, with Moneybagg Yo consistently topping the charts with hits like “Time Today” and “Wockesha.” Working alongside such driven individuals pushed me to grow, and even though the internship has ended, I plan to keep learning from them as I continue my journey.
